TRACK 2: ECONOMIC GARDENING

Economic Gardening is an economic development model where the fundamental concept is economic development efforts should focus on investing in local small businesses and entrepreneurs instead of using tax breaks and other incentives to recruit big businesses from outside the community.  The circular idea being that entrepreneurs drive economies and healthy communities have a healthy base of entrepreneurs.  The economic gardening activities investing in local entrepreneurs build capacities, create social capital for individuals and the community, lead to a prosperous local economy, and generate jobs and tax revenue.
