ONABEN Receives Support from the Ford Family Foundation
Thanks to the generous support of the Ford Family Foundation, ONABEN is enabled to provide its signtature, youth entrepreneurship camp, in coordination with four Oregon communities, in 2019. ONABENs entrepreneurial capacity building with youth is a part of its RealChange platform, and is designed to instill an entrepreneurial spirit among youth. Particpants are introduced to basic business planning, assisted in creating a "mock" storefront, provided the supplies necessary to create their products, and then afforded the opportunity to take part in a marketplace, thus earning income-an amazing opportunity in workforce development.
"Developing future generations of business leaders is important," says Veronica Hix, ONABENs Executive Director. "Our youth series is an interactive approach to building the capacity of youth to become stronger leaders, to consider entrepreneurship as an alternative career path, and to learn the importance of collaboration and teamwork."
Team ONABEN is grateful to the Ford Family Foundation for its investment in Oregon, Native youth. For more information about ONABENs RealChange Initiative, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
