Indigenous Peoples Day official in Portland
Over the past year eight cities across the United States have moved in favor of eliminating Colombus Day for Indigenous Peoples Day. This fall the city of Portland, Oregon (where our main office is located) has joined the list. Other cities to make this historic move are: Albuquerque, New (NM) Lawrence (KS), St. Paul (MN), Bexar County (TX), Anadarko (OK), Seattle (WA) and Almina (MI).
The name change is a critically historic shift towards recognition for America's people who have inhabited this land for 1000s of years. The day celebrates Native American history as well as modern indigenous culture. Thanks Portland!
