With over 20 years of experience in providing deep and extensive assistance, networking, and capacity building support to thousands of Native American organizations and entrepreneurs in over 120 tribal communities, ONABEN continues to work on projects that spark innovation. Our projects direct resources and services to support indigenous individuals, economic development organizations, and communities with the ultimate goal of increasing opportunities for sustainable economic growth in Native American, Hawaiian Native, and Native Alaskan communities.

Artist AcceleratorAUTHENTICALLY CHEROKEE ARTIST ACCELERATOR
Funding provided by U.S. Small Business Administration.
Designed to grow the capacity and expand the audience of a group of contemporary, Native artists in Cherokee, North Carolina, ONABEN'S Authentically Cherokee Artist Accelerator project has opened a bountiful door of opportunity for Eastern Band of Cherokee artists. The project has included the development of the Authentically Cherokee brand, as well as on-site and virtual marketplaces to support the continued growth of participating Cherokee art businesses.

Bridge to SuccessBRIDGE TO SUCCESS
Funding provided by U.S. Small Business Administration.
The Bridge to Success project is focusing on building the capacity of Native American microenterprises in Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. Fifteen small business owners are participating in a peer mentoring and exchange program designed to enhance their ability to provide contractual services to the federal government, tribal entities, and minority supplier development programs offered by large corporations.

Empowering EntrepreneursEMPOWERING ENTREPRENEURS & GRASSROOTS CAPACITY BUILDING
Funding provided by Administration for Native Americans and U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.
Through the Empowering Entrepreneurs & Grassroots Capacity Building project ONABEN is working with local partners in Hawaii, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Oklahoma to provide a variety of entrepreneurial trainings and customized assistance with a focus on economic growth, employment opportunities, and business creation. Our signature approach of creating effective synergies between training, technical assistance, and capacity building is the foundation of this project.

Financial InclusionFINANCIAL INCLUSION POLICY ACTION INITIATIVE
Funding provided by CFED and Northwest Area Foundation.
ONABEN is flexing its advocacy muscles through our Financial Inclusion Policy Action Initiative project where we are taking a systematic approach to overcome challenges associated with Native youth and large lump sum payments. We are working directly with tribes to inform policy that will increase the financial capability of young tribal members so they are better able to make responsible financial decisions as adults.

Financial InclusionGROWING ENTREPRENEURS IN INDIAN COUNTRY
Funding provided by USDA Rural Development.
ONABEN is working with our partners in a multi-state area to deliver intensive and customized training and assistance to Native entrepreneurs. By utilizing a combination of virtual and classroom training platforms, our Growing Entrepreneurs in Indian Country, will support 15 Native micro enterprises in successfully meeting their business goals.

Financial InclusionNATIVE WOMEN ARTISANS ACCELERATOR
Funding provided by U.S. Small Business Administration.
ONABEN is pleased to be continuing our work with Native artists through the Native Women Artisans Accelerator project. Through this project, we will provide culturally appropriate training and assistance to 10 Native women artisans of the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. Those services will help participants grow their audience and build their entrepreneurial skills.

 

Financial InclusionYOUTH ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM PILOT
Funding provided by Spirit Mountain Community Fund and Key Bank Foundation.
As part of a larger multi-year initiative, ONABEN is adapting our nationally renowned Indianpreneurship® curriculum to pilot a comprehensive entrepreneurial and finance learning platform for Native youth. Approximately 10-15 youth of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon will participate in the initial pilot program.
